UNDERSTANDING PHENYLKETONURIA (PKU)

Phenylketonuria PK is a rare inherited disease. It affects the organism's power to process an essential nutrient called phenylalanine. Typically, the body produces an enzyme known as phenylalanine hydroxylase, which transforms phenylalanine into tyrosine. In individuals with PKU, this enzyme lacks function properly. As a result, phenylalanine accum
